Muriel Cuddy Capellaro, lived in Millerton, New York for over twentyfive years. She was born in Bridgeport-Stratford Connecticut in 1914 and grew up in Danbury, CT where she married her husband  William Capellaro and the marriage lasted over 70 years.  She raised her family of five children in Danbury and New Fairfield, CT. She was the first woman employed at the Danbury Post Office and she worked at the New Fairfield Post Office until retiring in 1972 to Deland, Florida and Hyannis, Massachusetts, where she began taking painting lessons. She also studied in Lakeville, CT and with her Daughter and Son-in-law Mary Lou and Robert Alberetti, both professors of Art at Connecticut Universities.

She won awards for her painting in Hyannis, MA. She served as a Northeast-Millerton, NY Library volunteer for many years. She was a member of the 14th Colony Artist Co-op.

She has had her art on display both in Florida and Cape Cod. She has had many local shows; The Northeast-Millerton Library, Salisbury Bank and Trust, Lakeville, East West Arts, Millerton, the World Peace Prayer Festival, Amenia, the David M. Hunt Library, Falls Village, the Douglas Library, North Canaan, the Town Hall Gallery, Sharon and several 14th Colony group shows in Millerton. She left the care of her paintings to me, asking me to place them, hence this memorial site.

She was a creative, strong-spirited yet gentle woman who led a rich life influenced by nature, love of her family and art--which she worked at right up until her death  April 2011, just shy of age ninetyseven. Her unique poetry is also  included along with a gallery of some of her paintings.
